My annual picture of Chicago

While working in Tribune Tower I made it a goal to take one great picture of Chicago every year from our company holiday party on the 25th floor ‘Crown’ terrace.

Now, this party is generally in December and on a VERY cold night, so people look at me like I’m crazy when I show up with a big Nikon DSLR and head out on the terrace, but this year I am particularly pleased with the finished product.

Details:  Nikon D7100 with Nikon 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR – 5 image (handheld!) bracketed HDR processed in Lightroom with the camera dangling over a 25 story ledge (but securely attached to me).

My favorite photo ever – Chicago River and the Loop from Tribune Tower

Here’s a photo I took last week from the 25th floor patio at Tribune Tower while attending a party at ‘The Crown At Tribune Tower – a part of Howells and Hood restaurant on the Pioneer Court side of the Tower.

I posted it to facebook with the privacy set to public, and shared it on reddit and imgur – and it went moderately viral, so that’s fun.  It got around 100 likes on facebook, and was viewed around 13,000 times on imgur.
